NRC Bangladesh has been active since 2018, headquartered in Dhaka, with a focus on the Rohingya crisis, and provides assistance to meet people’s immediate needs, prevent further displacement, and contribute to durable solutions. The services include – ICLA, Education, WASH, shelter, protection from violence and emergency and disaster response. NRC Bangladesh responds to any immediate climate and man-made disaster both within the camps and nationally. NRC Bangladesh also works in climate-affected communities, including IDPs, in Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, and Khulna. In 2023, NRC reached 149,333 people through education, legal aid, shelter, and WASH services, and extended support to 43,410 internally displaced people due to climate change. With a staff of 137, including 124 national and 13 international members, NRC operates primarily from Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, and Ukhiya prioritising principled aid delivery, promoting dignity and resilience in vulnerable communities. NRC Bangladesh is currently operating in 24 camps and 9 unions located in Ukhiya and Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh. Also, NRC Bangladesh works with 9 unions in the Sunamganj district and 3 unions in the Khulna district. NRC responds to the needs of all Rohingya and Host community people and its specific focus is on women, adolescents, youth and persons with disability.
